Math:

We are rocking and rolling in math.  Here are some of the high-lights:

  • Unit 1 pretest and post-test are recorded in our data binders.  Reminder: Pretests are taken BEFORE we start the unit.  Pretests help to show what skills we know and what skills we need to work on.  Post-tests are AFTER we have completed the unit.  There should be a better score on the post-test then the pretest.
  • Xtramath.org is a website we are using at to help us memorize our multiplication facts.  It can be accessed from home.
  • Compass Learning is a website that is directly tied to the NWEA tests.  This website helps to target individual weaknesses and strengths.  This, too, can be accessed from home.
  • Learning the vocabulary for Unit 1 really helped us to understand the material better.
What I can do at home:
  • Be sure your child is doing his/her math homework Monday through Thursday.
  • Practice multiplication facts daily
  • Make vocabulary cards for the vocabulary words which are listed in the Family Letter.  Understanding the vocabulary is a huge step towards grasping the new concepts.
