We are embarking on a new adventure in my reading group... literature circles. We have started reading Elijah of Buxton this week. Each child has a special job that they need to complete before their literature circle meets. The jobs include
Artful Artist, Literary Luminary, Word Detective, Character Captain, Idea Connector, and the Summarizer. The children seem to be very excited about the new book and their new roles. Every 3-4 days they will be assigned a set of chapters and a new job. They will be recording the date of the next literature circle meeting and their role in the circle in their purple folder. Each job has an assignment that needs to be completed before we meet along with the required reading. Chapters 1-3 and their first assignment are due on Wednesday, January 20.
Our next vocabulary test will be on Friday, January 22. 4th grade will be working on Lesson 12 and third grade will be working on Chapter 6. Study guides are due on Thursday, January 21. They will have some time to work on these in class, but some may need to finish them at home.
