On Friday we will have our first vocabulary quiz for the 2nd 9 weeks. If you haven't joined our class yet on Quizlet, please do so! It is a great way for kids to practice their
vocabulary words each week.
Almost everyone is done with the Secret Garden! We had lots of celebrations today as people passed their quiz. Everyone wanted to turn in their book and be done... Not so fast! We still have lots to do to wrap up the book and the unit. The rest of this unit will be spent on researching an issue. We will begin after Fall break identifying an issue to research, eventually they will form an opinion about the issue they have chosen. Then, we will write a persuasive essay defending our position. It is a big project and is always interesting.
In November we will be traveling to Clowe's Hall to see The BFG. In preparation for this field trip we will begin reading The BFG after break. We will be doing some activities to go along with it so that we are ready to see the play in November. I'm very excited about reading this novel and seeing the play with the children.
